Copper-zinc brazing filler metals are mainly used in fast-heating brazing processes such as flame brazing, high frequency induction brazing and resistance brazing. It is used to braze copper, copper alloys, steels, cast iron and cemented carbide. Contaminants on the surface, such as grease and oxides must be removed thoroughly before brazing. Addition of flux is necessary during brazing in order to obtain optimal brazed joints.
This brass brazing alloy (RB-CUZN-B, C) 0.8mm to 3.15mm contains Sn and Si, which can improve the wettability of the brazing alloy and prevent the volatilization of Zn during brazing. Flux coated brazing rods are always preferred over traditional separate rod and flux application, because:
1) There is no need to use a separate flux.
2) Flux coated brazing alloy can be used directly on the job without separate application of flux making the operation quick and economical.
3) Compatibility of flux with the brazing alloy as supplied by the same manufacturer.
